Due to space limitations at the FEI
World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany, the World
Singles Driving Championships are being held at
Patroni del Vivaro, Italy from September 21st
to 24th, 2006.
In announcing the selection for the
Canadian Equestrian Team, Competitions Chair Gaye
McLennan said “This is a strong Team with extensive
International experience in Europe in recent
competitions with impressive finishes and in
previous World Championships.”
Bill said “Kristen Brunner, Carole
Dailly and my daughter, Courtney MacGillivray, all
qualified for the Team, but unfortunately Kristen is
unable to go. We would have liked to have had a full
team of three so that the best two (scores) would
count. Having two is limiting. It puts more pressure
on the drivers. We are allowed a maximum of three
and a minimum of two (on a team).
“There’s lots of cost and very
little funding. Some was available through Drive
Canada, based on the Equine Canada fund raising and
donations. The funding is so insignificant that we
have to be prepared to pay all of our own
expenses.”
