Pan American
Games in 1999, PAC in Washington State in 2003,
and at the North American Endurance Championships in
Fair Hill,
in 2005, which was the highlight as the top
Canadians in all disciplines.”

She
was 6th individually.

“I started riding at 8 years of age
and used to hire a horse by the day. I never got my
first horse until after I was married. In the late
70s I went to local shows and did fun stuff.”

She
got involved with the sport of Endurance in 1996.

Ruth’s husband, Ken, despite an
avid interest in golf, “has been a really good
sport, helping me out whenever he can. He was one of
my grooms at the Mt. Adams ride and gives me lots of
encouragement and support.”

“I was doing endurance-type things:
foxhunting, which I enjoyed immensely; Ontario
cross-country jumpers, which is like the
cross-country phase of a 3-day event; a little
showjumping; and long rides.”

“I knit to relax and take my
knitting to the competitions. I knit pre-ride to
settle my nerves.”

She currently owns two horses.
