Tiffany Foster
Nationality: Canada
Birth Date: July 24, 1984
City of Birth: Schomberg, ON
City of Residence: Schomberg, ON

Biography:

Since the age of one, when her parents bought her a rocking horse for Christmas, Tiffany Foster’s life has included horses. She began taking lessons when she was eight years old at the North Shore Equestrian Centre in North Vancouver, BC.

Tiffany eventually moved to Thunderbird Show Stables in Langley, BC, to train with Brent and Laura Balisky. She later worked for the Balisky’s, riding, teaching and managing the stable until she was 21.

In 2006, Tiffany began working for Olympic gold medalist Eric Lamaze and is now a head trainer at his Torrey Pines Stable. Pursing her own grand prix show jumping career alongside her coaching duties, Tiffany exploded on to the international show jumping scene in 2011.

Tiffany’s first major career victory came during the 2011 Spruce Meadows ‘North American’ tournament in Calgary, AB, when she won the $80,000 TD Cup riding Victor, a horse owned in partnership by Lamaze’s Torrey Pines Stable and Artisan Farms. That win paved the way for Tiffany to accomplish her goal of riding on the Canadian Equestrian Team. Alongside Lamaze, Ian Millar and Jonathan Asselin, Tiffany and Southwind VDL represented Canada in the $350,000 BMO Nations’ Cup at the 2011 Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’ tournament in September, helping the team earn a second place finish. She was subsequently named to the Canadian Team that competed in the CSIO2* Buenos Aires, Argentina, in November of 2011, this time riding Victor.

In addition to making her Canadian Equestrian Team debut, Tiffany also enjoyed great success in the young horse classes aboard Quilea de St. Druon, owned Artisan Farms. During Tiffany’s first European tour, the pair earned impressive wins in Chantilly, France; San Patrignano, Italy; and Valkenswaard, Holland, to qualify for the World Young Horse Championships held in Lanaken, Belgium.

With her first major win, her team debut and her success in the young horse classes, Tiffany plans to carry that momentum into the 2012 season, spending more time competing in Europe and, hopefully, once again riding on the Canadian Equestrian Team.

Tiffany was chosen to compete for Canada at the 2012 Olympic Games in London England. After moving into the second round of individual competition, a Hypersensitivity protocol put in place by the FEI deemed Foster’s horse, Victor, unable to compete. The horse was found to have a superficial cut on his left front coronary band, and officials pulled his from the competition. This decision was met by outrage by the Canadian team, with Foster’s coach, Eric Lamaze threatening to stop competing for Canada if Equine Canada did not show more support for Foster.
