This is a full-time position at 40 - 42 hours per week for $16.00 per hour. Spruce Meadows is a world renowned show jumping venue which holds a number of tournaments throughout the year. Events are held on weekends, therefore it is necessary to be available to work both weekends and nights. Shifts will fluctuate to coincide with the busy Spruce Meadows Tournament Season.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to)

  • The set-up, take down and operation of timing equipment for the sport of show jumping. Equipment is used to time and score rounds of top level international show jumping events
     
  • Basic troubleshooting of timing equipment and scoreboards
     
  • Although the position is centered on the timing needs associated with the sport of show jumping, the position may involve additional duties as assigned, including those involving manual labour.
     
  • Responsible for executing professional and effective communication during all Spruce Meadows operations.

 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Experience in specialized equipment operations (skidsteer and agricultural equipment)
  • Previous supervisory experience 

 

 

COMPETENCIES & SKILLS

 

  • Valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License Class 5 - own method of transportation to and from work – There is no public transportation to Spruce Meadows
     
  • Basic computer skills, intermediate to strong typing skills
     
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written English
     
  • Ability to problem solve and exhibit conflict resolution skills
     
  • Ability to work many weekends and evenings
     
  • Ability to adapt quickly when in a fast pace environment
     
  • Current certificate in Standard First Aid & CPR Level C (Asset)
     
  • Ability to speak a second language fluently (Asset)
     
  • Current certificate in Standard First Aid & CPR Level C (Asset)

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Work is in a fast-paced work environment.  Successful applicants must be willing to work in a variety of different settings, and must work well in both team and individual scenarios.  The Spruce Meadows venue operates in all weather conditions, from early mornings into late nights and on weekends.
