February 22 is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day

February 22, 2026

Today, we stand in solidarity with communities across Canada to raise awareness about human trafficking and sexual exploitation — an urgent issue that often remains unseen.

Last fall, during the ‘Masters,’ our community came together for Unstoppable, and the impact continues to ripple outward.

In a milestone year marking 50 years of Spruce Meadows and 10 years of the Spruce Meadows Leg Up Foundation, Unstoppable 2025 focused on preventing and ending human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, partners, and supporters, funds raised were directed to Not In My City, the Alberta-based organisation founded by Paul and Liz Brandt. Their work brings communities together to raise awareness, educate, and take collective action to protect vulnerable individuals across our province.

Since 2015, the Spruce Meadows Leg Up Foundation has contributed over $3 million to initiatives creating meaningful, lasting change for Albertans — and this year’s Unstoppable was a powerful reminder of what is possible when purpose and community align.

Across Canada, the #NotInMyCity Network (#NIMCN) is sparking excitement, momentum, and a true national awakening. We’re empowering everyone—from governments to grassroots allies—to raise awareness, instill hope, and take action.

You don’t need to be an expert to fight trafficking. You just need to care about human dignity and believe everyone deserves to reach their full potential.

On this National Human Trafficking Awareness Day, we reaffirm our commitment to being part of the solution. Awareness leads to action. Action leads to change.

Thank you to our incredible partners — Pipella Law, Excel Homes, Birchcliff Energy, Blue-Con, Spruce Meadows, Qualico, Genstar, AirPartners, Kidco, Felesky Flynn LLP, Great Events Catering, Penfolds, and Global Calgary — and to everyone who made Unstoppable truly unstoppable.

Together, we can build safer, stronger communities.
