First International Ring Win for Local Rider Eric Krawitt (CAN)
Spruce Meadows (June 19, 2022) - The ATB Cup was the final competition of the 2022 Spruce Meadows 'National', presented by Rolex. FEI Course Designer Anthony d'Ambrosio set out a track to test the athletes and three answered the call. Despite a pause in the competition to allow some severe weather to pass, Eric Krawitt (CAN), Mario Deslauriers (CAN) and Jose Antonio Chedruai (MEX) rode clear rounds and qualified for the jump off. After the brief but severe downpour, Chedraui elected to save his horse for another day and it was down to two.
Delauriers laid down a safe clear ride in a time of 44.12s putting the pressure on Krawitt to be fast and clear. At seventeen years of age, Krawitt was up for the challenge. Aboard Cactus du Cosniere, the young up-and-comer rode the jump off like a pro and was clear in a time of 41.53s claiming the victory. The 'National' Tournament was Krawitt's first 5* event.

Jordan Coyle (IRL) and Picador Win the ATCO CSI2* Grand Prix
The ATCO CSI2* Grand Prix was the first event on the International Ring for the final day of the 'National', presented by Rolex. The top 35 riders from competitions earlier in the week qualified to compete in the 2* Grand Prix finale. Eleven horse/rider combinations passed all the tests of the first round set out by FEI Course Designer Anthony d'Ambrosio (USA) and came back for jump off.
Jordan Coyle (IRL) was the first into the jump off and laid down an incredibly fast time of 43.98s and claimed victory in the competition. Yesterday's RBC Grand Prix of Canada, presented by Rolex winner, Matthew Sampson (GBR) finished in second with a time of 47.27s.
A Win for Nicole Walker (CAN) in the Trimac Cup
The North American Ring was a busy place during the final day of the 'National', presented by Rolex. Over 100 rounds were ridden between the Trimac Cup and the Friends of the Meadows Cup. First up in the Trimac Cup, 45 horse/rider combinations competed in round one of the competition hoping to post clear rounds and proceed into the jump off. Of those 45 rounds, 10 went into the jump off. Nicole Walker of Canada aboard Atout des Trambles posted the fastest clear round with a time 43.45s that could not be caught.
The Friends of the Meadows Cup featured 49 riders through the first round and 13 of them jumped clear to proceed into the jump off. Some wet weather rolled in just as Matthew Sampson (GBR) was starting his jump off round, but it made no difference to Sampson. Aboard Evora BJX, a time of 39.55s was posted and could not be caught.
Equestrian Canada Names the Canadian Show Jumping Team for the 2022 ECCO FEI World Championships in Herning, Denmark
Equestrian Canada has announced that Erynn Ballard (Gakhir), Tiffany Foster (Figor), Amy Millar (Truman) and Beth Underhill (Nikka VD Biisschop) with Mario Deslauriers (Bardolina 2) as the reserve, will represent Canada at the ECCO Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) World Championships from August 6 – 14, 2022 in Herning, Denmark.
The High Performance Advisory Group (HPAG) Jumping and Chef d’Équipe Eric Lamaze have been observing the performances of Canadian riders and horses over the last number of months and were on site at Spruce Meadows this weekend to solidify final selections.
