September 11, 2026 (Spruce Meadows) — After receiving thousands of creative submissions from horse lovers across Canada, Spruce Meadows is pleased to announce the winners of the 2026 Name the Foal, presented by TELUS.
This year's winning names are I’ve Got This, submitted by Lyndsay Robinson of Quesnel, British Columbia; Served Hot, submitted by Linda Lawry of Nanaimo, British Columbia; and Genuine Attraction, submitted by Maria Simmons of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
The annual contest invited fans from coast to coast to help name three foals born this spring at Spruce Meadows. Following the close of the contest, a panel of Spruce Meadows judges selected the winning names from thousands of entries submitted online.
Each winner will received a VIP trip for themselves and a guest to the 2026 Spruce Meadows 'Masters' Tournament, where they meet the foal they helped name while enjoying one of the world's premier show jumping events. A presentation to the winners takes place Friday, September 11, 2026 on the International Ring during the TELUS Evening of the Horse.

TELUS has proudly partnered with Spruce Meadows for more than three decades, with the Name the Foal contest continuing to inspire fans of all ages while celebrating the remarkable horses that call Spruce Meadows home.

The contest first began in the 1980s, when visitors would submit their name ideas in ballot boxes throughout the grounds. It expanded nationwide in the early 1990s and has since received hundreds of thousands of entries from Canadians eager to leave their mark on Spruce Meadows history.
Following traditional Hanoverian naming conventions, each foal's name must begin with the same first letter as its sire's name.

I’ve Got This

About the Name:
Lyndsey chose the name “I’ve Got This” after reading the foal’s story. Inspired by the loss of her mother at birth, she wanted a name that reflected the foal’s strength and determination, while honouring her mother in a positive way.
About the Winner:
Lyndsay has been a self proclaimed “horse girl” all her life, growing up around horses and discovering that dressage was her preferred riding style, while still enjoying watching show jumping. Nearly 20 years ago, she visited Spruce Meadows with a friend to watch the ‘Masters’ and has always dreamed of returning.
Lyndsay was overjoyed to win the Name the Foal contest on her first entry. She’s excited to bring her significant other, who helped come up with the winning names, and introduce him to her passion for the horse world.

About the Name:
Linda chose the name “Served Hot” after reading her bio, which described her as shy at first, but curious once she warmed up. Her beautiful colour also made her think of “hot” coffee, and from there, the name just came! She chose “Served Hot” because she believed the foal has the potential to be a real star in the ring—and, of course, she’ll be hot!
About the Winner:
Born in Port Alberni, Linda moved to Nanaimo, then spent 20 years in Hawaii before returning home. Her love for horses spans more than 70 years, including five years spent owning and operating a riding stable in Hawaii with her husband, where they cared for 21 horses and 44 boarders. She calls it her favourite job ever.
She has entered the Name the Foal contest since 2008, submitting more than 1,900 names over the years. After all that persistence, her dream finally came true!

Genuine Attraction

About the Name:
Maria was drawn to the name Genuine Attraction because it captured exactly how she felt about getting back into horses. After some time away, she found herself naturally being pulled back toward riding and realized just how much she had missed it.
Genuine Attraction felt like the perfect name for a foal that represents finding your way back to something you genuinely love.
About the Winner:
Maria recently moved to a new city with her husband, and one of the things she loved most about this new chapter has been finding her way back to horses and riding. She rode when she was younger, and getting back into it has reminded her just how much she has always loved being around horses.
This was Maria’s first time entering Name the Foal, presented by TELUS—and will be her first time visiting Spruce Meadows.
